This site looks complicated! How is it organized?
The top menu bar points to the top level directories. The left sidebar points to sub directories within the current top level directory. (The current sub directory is highlighted.) The right sidebar points to the pages within the current sub directory. (The current page is highlighted.) There are also many other shortcuts and link pages for your convenience, which are detailed in later questions.
How do I see what’s new?
From any window, click on the top banner.
How do I get back to the original home page? When I go to Home, I get the “What’s New” page?
The “Welcome” page can be found under “About.”
How do I log in?
Look in the upper left corner. Also, if you attempt to vote on/rate any proposal/essay, and you are not logged in, you will get a login form. Remember, the email address you used when joining is your login name.
How do I change my profile?
If you are logged in, you will see a link under your name taking you to the “Members Pages.” Click it, and the right sidebar will then give you the options.
There is so much here! I don’t have time to vote on all this!
And the webmaster didn’t have time to post all this – which took ten times longer than it will take you to read and vote—but he did it anyway. Fixing the Libertarian Party is hard. And after fixing the LP, it will still be hard to fix the U.S. government. Freedom is not free; it’s not even cheap.
All that said, great pains were taken to make voting easier, and the next few questions give some time-saving tips.
I am overwhelmed. Where do I start?
A good place would be the Classic Essays listed on the bottom of the right column of the Welcome screen. These will give you a good overview of what we are doing. Make sure you rate the essays as you go!
Can I skip anything? What items are top priority?
Feel free to skip the platform proposals based on the old (pre-Portland) platform. Hopefully, we won’t have to deal with all that any more. You may even skip reading the planks based on the current (post-Portland) platform. There seems to be strong consensus that it is time to push for a complete rewrite. (Then again, tweaking the existing platform is a more conservative fallback…)
Make sure to read the new format platform proposals! At the very least, look at and vote on the essays describing each format. We need to get consensus on the format long before the Denver convention. Please also be sure to look at the newer bylaws proposals.
I have time to vote on a bunch of proposals. How do I do it quickly?
Start at the top. Then use the “Next” button at the bottom of each page to go to the next page.
I got halfway through last week. How do I find where I left off?
Log in. Look at the top of the left sidebar. You will find a link called “Unread Proposals” and one called “Unread Essays”. These links launch a small popup window listing those proposals/essays that you haven’t voted on yet.
