Platform Format
Consider the current LP platform format. Then, consider the formats we have
on the left sidebar. If you think the LP platform should be in yet a different
format, submit an essay here. Your essay should describe how you think the
platform should be formatted. Your essay should include the following:
-
Size Is this a mini platform format? Midsize? Maxi? (A midsize format is
one comparable to the current format. A mini format is one of one to a few
sentences per plank. A maxi format is one which is more verbose than the current
format. For the purposes of classification, these sizes refer to the size of each
plank more than the number of planks.
-
Description of format. Describe in general terms how your format works.
-
Rationale Why do you prefer this particular format?
-
Example plank(s). Give one or more example planks. You do not need to
give a complete platform here, nor is this advisable unless you are writing a
very short mini platform.
-
List of subjects. Do write a complete outline of a platform using your
format. This will be used (along with user comments) to create the initial
structure should your format get promoted. A two-layer outline is possible, just
as we have with the current LP platform. That is, some subjects can be
"dividers" which act as headings for the subjects to follow.
The above elements do not have to be in the order above; they just need to be
in your essay somewhere. After the editors have checked your essay for
grammar and completeness, it will show up in this section. If user response is
sufficiently positive, the webmaster will then use your essay as the introduction
for a format, and a new left sidebar entry will be created for your format.
At this point, you will be notified of the promotion. It is strongly recommended
that you quickly add some proposed planks to your format in order to set the
tone. In other words, be preparing planks as or soon after you design your
format.
